Here's a tanda I've been playing for a long time. I concider these as some of the best uptempo vocal tangos from Donato and I usually leave "Sinsabor" for other tandas although it's definitely some of the best from Lagos and Morales together. Depending on the situation I might start with "Sombra gaucha" and let the intro pass before dancers fully recognize what's ahead. But especially after breaks and speeches, when I need a strong start to get people back on the floor fast, I start with "Sinfonia de arrabal". There is also a versions of "Sombra gaucha" without the intro part but I prefer having the intro. There are also versions of "Chapaleando barro" in different speeds so be careful which one you purchase and play. I believe this is the right speed version. Correct me if I'm wrong.

ReplyDelete:-(((
Unfortunately, this applies to me as well :-(
DeleteYou play a lot of stuff that is not available in the USA. 1 & 4 in this tanda.
ReplyDeleteCan you find the songs by searching on Spotify? I always try to choose the best versions available on Spotify (Finland/Germany) but unfortunately I have no way of knowing currently which of the versions is or isn't available in other countries.
DeleteOK. Yes, that works. I'll do that from now on if your link doesn't work in my country. Many thanks!
DeleteThis is almost identical to my tadna. Excellent.
ReplyDeleteIndeed 'Sombra Gaucha' is a great opener. I'm less keen on 'Chapaleando barro' - any DJ who still wants Lita on every track can try the gorgeous Yo te Amo (1940) instead.
ReplyDeleteBy the way Antti, that
" Edgardo Donato / Horacio Lagos, Lita Morales - "Carnaval de mi barrio" 1939"
is missing Romeo Gavio.
Keep up the great work! :)
