  1. My feeling is that Di Sarli's Sexteto really stands out among the orchestras of the time by the amount of superb records. In addition to "Chau pinela", my other most Di Sarli - Ernesto Famá favorite is "La estancia". But as a rule the best pieces of the time have deeply individual character, not really comparable by style and vibe to other records. Maybe the orchestras experimented more often in those times, and got excellent results by wild experimentation. Or perhaps the stuff we love "now" wasn't what the contemporary listeners appreciated, and that's why the orchestras mostly made more measured, less driving, less individual recordings? Anyway I often feel like mixing Sexteto's instrumentals with vocals, or even adding other orchestras, like Carabelli (and OTV), Fresedo,...

  2. Another fine tandamate for No cantes Victoria is Añorándote, 1930.

  3. The third track crashes an otherwise lovely tanda for me.
