Tanda of the Week 25 / 2012 -
Enrique Rodriguez y Roberto Flores - Foxtrot

1. Enrique Rodríguez / Roberto Flores - "La colegiala" 1938
2. Enrique Rodríguez / Roberto Flores - "Para mi eres divina" 1938
3. Enrique Rodríguez / Roberto Flores - "La calesita se destrozo" 1937

Here are some foxtrots to spark up your day from Enrique Rodriguez and Roberto Flores. I personally really rarely play foxtrot but I love this kind of music. And it's also very fun to dance to with your special blend of tango-milonga-foxtrot-and then some.

Foxtrot (the fast kind) and slow-foxtrot were very popular in Finland and I have loads of it from the 30s-50s. From Argentina I have foxtrots only from Rodriguez, Canaro, Lomuto and Carabelli. If you know more good foxtrot from Argentina please let us know!

Enjoy!

OT Victor recorded a dozen or so, e.g. the fast foxtrot Adiós chula and the utterly delightful slow Si tu fueras mi novia, both 1931.

  3. I was amused to notice that the second foxtrot is the melody of the popular song from the 30's, "Bei Mir Bist du Schoen." (The German, and, later, English title. The original is in Yiddish. The Spanish title means the same thing.) And the third song of the tanda is the refrain for the theme song for Looney Tunes. Now I know it started life as a foxtrot!

  4. Do the words mean the same in Spanish version?

It could have started life as something else before that foxtrot. :)
